Do you want your windows to be the room's focal point, or would you rather that distinction go to a vibrant area rug or patterned wallpaper? If you want your window treatments to play a supporting role in the overall aesthetic, layers are still an option; just go with tone-on-tone hues so your windows aren’t as prominent.
