DIY Window Displays for the Holidays
When the temperature drops, there’s nothing like a cozy home with beautiful decorations. Don't forget the windows while you’re busy decorating your home for the holidays! Rachel Brosky Interiors shares some fun, easy ways to spread holiday cheer to your windows.
Easy Holiday Window Displays
Snowflakes are a quintessential holiday decoration that easily transitions to winter décor after the holidays. You can make paper snowflakes and hang them from the window frame using twine for a rustic look. DIY window clings are another easy idea your kids will love too. To make window clings, lay a piece of wax paper over your desired design and trace it with puff paint. Allow the paint to dry for several hours, then peel off your window clings and begin decorating!
For a sophisticated look, place candles on a tray with small ornaments and pine cones. Use a window paint marker to create a wintry scene with trees and snowmen. Swap out the candle tray for a few miniature evergreen trees wrapped in burlap or luxurious velvet. Add some holiday sparkle to your windows with a garland wrapped in fairy lights. To give the display depth, hang a few oversized ornaments across the window frame at varying lengths.
If you’re a wine connoisseur who saves corks for a rainy (or snowy) day, this is your sign to use them. Creating a wine cork wreath is a simple and fun activity to do alone or with a partner. All you need is a foam wreath base, as many corks as possible, and a hot glue gun. Glue the corks to the base at different angles to give your wreath more character.
Enhance Your Windows with Hunter Douglas Roller Shades
When you’re ready to retire your window display for the evening, Rachel Brosky Interiors offers custom window treatments to meet your needs! One of our favorites is Hunter Douglas roller shades for their sleek profile that blends well with any interior design. They offer easy operation that provides privacy and light control at night and raise neatly into a headrail for the best view during the day. Designer Roller Shades have hundreds of fabrics and opacity options, and the dual roller design lets you hang any two roller shades on a single window.
Alustra® Architectural Roller Shades are ideal for homeowners who want a structured roller shade. These shades feature unique, fabric-covered battens that give them an upscale appearance without traditional Roman shades' stacking fabric and rear cords. Choose from over 40 colors and materials and add the Kickback™ feature that pushes the fabric at the top of the headrail closer to the window when you fully lower the shade for more privacy.
